Children Traveling Alone
General
AIR MALAWI defines children less than 12 years of age who are traveling alone or a child/infant of any age who is traveling with an Airline Escort as Unaccompanied Minor.
Special handling regulations apply to the carriage of children under 12 years of age who are not accompanied in the same compartment by a passenger eighteen years of age or above.
AIR MALAWI will not take responsibility for Unaccompanied Minors beyond the airport at which they are embarking or disembarking. However, AIR MALAWI will deliver the unaccompanied minor to the receiving carrier at transfer point.
Policy
Unaccompanied minors under the age of two (2) years on international flights, and under the age of six (6) on domestic flights will not be accepted on AIR MALAWI with or without Company escort.
A Company escort is mandatory for unaccompanied minors between the ages of 2 to 5 years on international routes.
Procedures Prior to issuance of ticket, the client should fill Unaccompanied Minor Form complete with addresses and telephone numbers of adult parties involved who are responsible at origin, intermediate (if transfer is involved) and destination stations.
In the event that arrangements cannot be made by parent or guardian to receive child at transfer point and no escort service is requested, AIR MALAWI will assist in making arrangements for a suitable custodian without, however, accepting any liability. The arrangement of such custodian is for children who have reached their fifth birthday. All others below this age and up to 2 years shall be requested to have Company escort.
Unaccompanied minors will not be accepted for travel if the journey involves a transfer unless escorted or the parent or guardian has arranged for the child to be met and cared for at the transfer point.
Pregnant Women
Women up to the 9th month of pregnancy are accepted for transportation on AIR MALAWI provided they furnish a certificate form a physician. The form is can be obtained from the nearest AIR MALAWI ticket office. However, boarding will be denied if physical signs of labor are present.
Such certificate should be issued within seven (7) days of commencement of travel.
Women beyond the seventh month of pregnancy should be advised to consult a physician prior to traveling.
Regulations regarding the use of seat belts must be observed.
Travelers With Disabilities

AIR MALAWI is always pleased to provide convenient and comfortable service to all our customers. The following information is provided to help customers with disabilities in planning a trip with us. We recognize that every person with a disability is different, and you are the best judge of the type of service you require. In order to enable us meet your expectations, please communicate your preferred level of assistance to our employees.
The first step in requesting a special assistance is letting us know the level of assistance you require during your reservation. In addition please let our airport employees and in-flight crewmembers know of your special needs during your travel.
If your travel itinerary includes airlines other than AIR MALAWI, please check directly with that airline as different policies and procedures apply.
Advance Notice AIR MALAWI recommends that all customers make their reservations and reconfirmations at least 72 hours prior to their travel date. Although we do not require the extent of disability, the more information we have, the better prepared we will be to meet your needs. AIR MALAWI recommends that all customers arrive for check-in within the published processing time of your originating airport.
Equipment & Support AIR MALAWI and its handling agents can provide any of the following equipment or serviceS if requested: Wheelchairs Oxygen Stretchers Lifting services Devices for supporting limbs, etc Any other specialized equipment Availability may be limited at certain airports. Please enquire your travel agent or the nearest AIR MALAWI ticket office.
Animal Travel Policy
Policy
Pets (cats, dogs and household birds) as defined in current passenger tariffs, when in a container and accompanied by a passenger or shipped as Cargo, may be carried in baggage compartment.
Dogs trained to lead the seeing impaired (seeing-eye dogs), if accompanying a passenger who is dependent on the dog and if the dog is properly harnessed, and muzzled may be carried in the cabin on all AIR MALAWI passenger aircraft without charge. Such carriage is dependent on any local or governmental restrictions.
Procedure on carriage of pets Any kind of pet will not be carried in the cabin on all AIR MALAWI aircraft. Advance arrangements are required for pets in containers accompanied by passenger or shipped as cargo.
Booking Procedure Detail of the type of pet and size of the container should be indicated during reservation.
Condition of Carriage
Governmental restrictions regarding pet carriage and acceptance vary from country to country. Please contact your nearest AIR MALAWI office or your travel agent.
In the event passenger and pet are making interline connections, the applicable regulation of the interlining carrier should be checked.
The charge for pet in baggage compartments will be at excess baggage rates in accordance with current applicable tariffs, regardless of weight of other baggage.
Owner assumes all risk for injury sickness or death of any pet accepted for transportation, and assumes responsibility for compliance with all governmental regulations and restrictions. AIR MALAWI will not be responsible in the event that any pet is refused carriage into or through, any state, country or territory.
